Description
As election seasons approach, Yankton Community Library is offering an opportunity to learn clear, accurate, non-partisan information about how the voting process works. Local election officials City of Yankton Finance Officer Lisa Yardley and Yankton County Auditor Patty Hojem will help citizens understand every step – from registration to the final count. The program will be held at the library, 515 Walnut St., on Wednesday, May 20, at 6:00 pm.
Information will be provided about a variety of topics including: recent changes to South Dakota election laws, voter registration requirements, as well as when and where to vote in person or by absentee ballot. In addition, they will discuss how candidates get on the ballot and how those ballots are created and tailored for different voters.
Prepare to vote with confidence by understanding how elections work and the procedures and safeguards in place. Sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Southeast South Dakota, this free program is open to all. No registration is required. Light refreshments will begin at 5:30 pm.
