Yankton Area Summer Band Christmas Concert

The Yankton Area Summer Band will feature Meghan Powell, conducting on Sunday, December 7 at 4 PM in the Summit Center Theater at Yankton High School. Interested musicians are invited to join us for rehearsal at 2:30 PM.

Meghan Powell is in her seventeenth year of teaching instrumental music and currently serves as the high school band director in the Sioux Center Community School District. Under her direction, the Sioux Center band program has continued its strong tradition of excellence, with the high school marching band, concert band, and jazz band consistently earning superior ratings at state contests. She also teaches Music Appreciation through Northwest Iowa Community College, Music Theory, and directs the 7th Grade Jazz Ensemble. Prior to her time in Sioux Center, Ms. Powell taught band and choir in the Gayville-Volin School District in Gayville, South Dakota.
