Oct 10    SE SD SHRM Fall Conference-National Disability Employment Awareness Month Awards and Panel Discussion

 

Southeast South Dakota SHRM is excited to announce that we will again be partnering with the South Dakota Department of Human Services for a luncheon celebration of National Disability Employment Awareness Month on Tuesday, October 10, from 11 am – 1 pm, at the Minerva’s Grill and Bar/Convention Center.

This luncheon will include the 2017 Yankton Employer and Employee of the Year awards followed by two panel discussions.

The first panel will include Kim Hoberg, Business Specialist, with the South Dakota Department of Rehabilitation Services, Vicki Kerklivet, Executive Director, with the Business Resource Network, and Lacey Johnson, Office Manager, with the South Dakota Department of Labor. They will discuss the hiring process, accommodations, and benefits of hiring individuals with disabilities

The second panel will feature area business representatives and employees with disabilities sharing their experiences and best practices to help employees be successful.

Register to attend this breakfast and to hear speaker Nancy Lyons. Nancy has been locally and nationally recognized for her role as owner and CEO of Clockwork. She is co-author of “Interactive Project Management: Pixels, People, and Process” (New Riders, 2012) and author of the upcoming book, “How to Win at Business by Being Nice to Humans.”
 
She serves as the Chair of the National Board of Directors at The Family Equality Council, is on the Board of Trustees at Minnesota Public Radio and American Public Media, is on the advisory board for American Public Media’s Marketplace, is on the Open Twin Cities Advisory Board, is on the Amplified Voices Board, and is a member of the advisory board for the innovative entrepreneurial conference, Giant Steps. She is also a member of the Women’s Presidents Organization and was the Emcee for the Women’s March MN in 2017.
