May 3    Missouri River Watershed Education Festival
Missouri River Watershed Education Festival will be held on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at Riverside Park for registered area schools. Students will attend hands-on sessions that show students how to identify factors that can cause changes in stability of populations, communities and ecosystems along the Missouri River. Historical and cultural aspects of the Missouri River will be discussed as well.

May 5    Missouri River Clean Up
Come join us on Saturday, May 5th for our annual Missouri River Cleanup at Riverside Park!! Coffee and donuts will be provided in the morning along with a FREE T-shirt for your participation! Life-jackets will be provided for volunteers but feel free to bring your own. A lunch of brauts and chips will be donated by Keep Yankton Beautiful and their sponsors for our volunteers!

May 10    Yankton County Commission Candidate Forum
The Republican Party has five candidates for three available Yankton County Commission seats, so the Republicans will have a primary election on June 5, 2018. The candidates include Deb Bodenstedt, Daniel Dolejsi, Dan Klimisch, Bob Law, and Todd Woods. The top three vote recipients in the June primary will advance to the November ballot to run against Ray Epp (independent) and possibly others on the ballot.
 
Come hear first hand from our candidates and learn where they stand on issues regarding our county and community. The forum will be facilitated by a moderator and the public is encouraged to bring written questions.
 
This community forum is hosted by The Yankton Area Chamber
of Commerce along with their media partners: KYNT, KVTK, WNAX, The Yankton County Observer, and The Yankton Daily Press & Dakotan.

There will be games, face painting, crafts, a scavenger hunt and MORE! All youth 5th grade and under are welcome to attend and youth do not need to be members to attend. Members that bring a non-member friend will get a free gift. Parent/family attendance is encouraged and youth under 1st grade MUST be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian. Admission is $5. May 17    2018 State of the Community Lunch
Join us for our second 2018 State of the Community luncheon on Thursday, May 17 featuring two community partners who aim to move our community forward: Yankton Area Progressive Growth and Onward Yankton.
 
Featured speakers include Nancy Wenande, YAPG CEO, and Kristen Hicks, Onward Yankton Board Member.

This event gives Yankton area residents and business owners a chance to hear first-hand about the impact YAPG and Onward Yankton have on our entire community. There will be Q&A period following each speaker.
 
This event, organized by the Yankton Chamber of Commerce Governmental Affairs Committee, is free and open to the public.
 
Registration is required by 5 pm on Monday, May 14th. An optional plated lunch (roasted turkey, mashed potatoes and veggies) will be available for $15, which you can indicate when you register. Doors open at 11:30 am, lunch is served at 11:45 am, and speakers will present at noon.

May 29    NFAA Supergirl Archery & Air Rifle Day Camp- May
The NFAA Easton Yankton Archery Center is hosting an all-girl archery and air rifle camp. Be a super girl all day long! Practice archery like a champ, shoot air rifle like a superhero, craft yourself a supergirl accessory and explore the outdoors in this fun-filled girls' adventure camp. This is an outdoor activity, appropriate attire is required along with water, sack lunch and a snack. Class size if 4-20 for ages 7+

The NFAA Easton Yankton Archery Center is hosting Explore Archery Intro Classes throughout the summer for ages 7 to adult. 
This interactive class is open to anyone wanting to learn the basics of archery. Topics covered includ fundamentals of shooting, safety and equipment. We'll play fun fames and shoot at 3D targets. The class is perfect for anyone who enjoys shooting sports and ahve an interest in bow hunting.
