SPARK, a newly formed coalition of representatives from a variety of human service organizations, is hosts monthly Community Conversations! 
 
The goal of SPARK is to connect community leaders and volunteers, while gaining knowledge and understanding of community needs. Members meet on the first Friday of each month, at the Avera Professional Office Pavilion, to share information and look for opportunities to improve the community through collaboration.
 
SPARK’s community conversations have rotated important community topics, such as hunger, housing, child care and health. SPARK will also host quarterly community service and educational opportunities for volunteers and programs.

The NFAA Easton Yankton Archery Center is hosting an Explore Bow hunting Camp for kids ages 9+
Interested in learning essential bow hunting skills for life? Explore Bow hunting teaches archers how to interact with their natural world by developing basic skills, which focus on getting close to an animal. In partnership with the South Dakota Department of Game Fish & Parks, the Explore Bow hunting class is designed to engage kids in the outdoors and to help kids relate to the age-old customs and skills involved in bow hunting, appreciaite what is around them and enhance their enjoyment of the outdoors. This is an outdoor activity; appropriate attire is required along with a water bottle and snack. Students are required to complete an introductory archery class at the NFAA easton Yankton Archery Center prior to the course such as Explore Archery, Explore Compound Archery, Supergirl Archery & Air Rifle or similar fundamentals of archery class.

Jul 12 - Jul 14    WNAX & Tri-State Old Iron Tractor Ride
The time has come for the 2018 WNAX along with the Tri-State Old Iron Association 2 day tractor ride. The ride will be July 12th through July 14th.  Check-In will be held on Thursday, July 12th, with the actual ride on Friday and Saturday, July 13th and 14th.

This years ride will be similar to last years, as the entire ride will originate from one location, right here in Yankton, South Dakota.  We will make Paddle Wheel Point, which is located next to the Chamber of Commerce, our headquarters all three days.

The NFAA Easton Yankton Archery Center is hosting Fantastic Fridays at the Center for kids and adults ages 7+
Spend your Fridays at the largest archery center in the world! This monthly class is all about having fun and getting outside. Participants can try to bowbirds (thing archery mixed with flying Frisbees) and 3D archery. Each class will include fun games, interactive activities and will focus on the lighter side of archery. This class is open to all ages, from youth to adult. This is an outdoor activity; please bring water and dress appropriately.

Jul 13    Pathways' .5k & Kickoff to Crazy Days
Pathways' .5k is a non-race for people who like the idea of finishing a race but really dislike exercise. Or, it's for people who like all of that "hard work" and want to complete a short non-race for the sweet .5k sticker. 

Participants are encourage to walk, crawl, skip, or dance (or run, if they really want to) their way across the finish line. There will be a donut stand at the halfway marker (820 feet). Other simple refreshments will be offered.

This event is to support Pathways and get people downtown for Crazy Days weekend! Local establishments will offer deals on food and drink for .5k participants.

In partnership with the South Dakota Department of Game, Fish & Parks, this Explore Bowfishing class in an interactive shooting program that introduces participants to a fast-paced, archery-based form of fishing. Learn fundamental bowfishing skills on day one and put them to the test on day two on public fishing areas in the community. This is an outdoor activity; appropriate attire is required to complete an introductory archery class at the NFAA Easton Yankton Archery Center prior to this course such as Explore Archery, TRY Archery or similar fundamentals of archery class.

The NFAA Easton Yankton Archery Center is hosting a Compound Archery Adventure Day Camp for ages 7+
Archers will try a variety of games at the largest archery center in the world. Activities include target, 3D and field archery as well as crafts and bow birds (think trap shooting with bows). All equipment is provided, though archers are welcome to bring their own. Students must have completed the Explore Compound Archery Class or equivalent safety  class offered at the NFAA Easton Yankton Archery Center (TRY Archery or After School Archery classes, for example). This is an outdoor activity, so dress appropriately. Please bring water, sack lunch and a snack. Class size 4-20.

The Benedictine Peace Center of Sacred Heart Monastery is initiating a new Spiritual Growth Program this fall.  This year-long opportunity program is open to men and women who desire to deepen their relationship with God through monthly gatherings, selected readings, and a silent retreat experience.

Program participants will meet at the Benedictine Peace Center monthly from September through May.  The two-hour gathering will include prayer, a presentation on the focus topic for the month, and time for sharing reflections on the reading and presentation.   

Each session will focus on a topic of interest to women and men—bringing a theological and spiritual perspective to a faith journey within the Christian tradition.

A three-day silent guided personal retreat experience at the Benedictine Peace Center is included in the program cost.

The program is led by staff at the Benedictine Peace Center and will occasionally include other Benedictine Sisters with expertise in a particular topic.

Jul 27    NFAA Outdoor Adventure Day Camp- July
The NFAA Easton Yankton Archery Center is hosting an outdoor adventure day camp for ages 9+
Unplug and recharge by enjoying all that nature has to offer. Sitting on 100 acres of land, the NFAA Easton Yankton Archery Center is the perfect location for an outdoor adventure. This camp will include geocaching, compass and navigation skills, wilderness survival, archery and hiking. The camp focuses on inviting campers to explore the world around them through ands-on, outdoor, experimental learning. Please dress for outdoors , bring water, sack lunch and a snack. Class size 4-20.

Jul 27 - Jul 29    NFAA Ladies' Explore Bowhunting Archery Class-July
The NFAA Easton Yankton Archery Center is hosting a Ladies' Explore Bowhunting Camp for women ages 16+
This class is designed to engage women in the outdoors and lean age-old customs and skills involved in harvesting large game with a bow. In partnership with the South Dakota Department of Game Fish & Parks, this class will focus on deer and turkey seasons, identifying accessible hunting land, getting close to an animal, harvesting techniques and much more. This is an outdoor activity; appropriate attire is required along with a water bottle and snack. Students are required to complete an introductory archery class at the NFAA easton Yankton Archery Center prior to the course such as Explore Archery, TRY Archery or similar fundamentals of archery class.
This July session has varying times: Friday 5-8pm and Saturday-Sunday 12-3pm

The Benedictine Peace Center of Sacred Heart Monastery is initiating a new Spiritual Growth Program this fall.  This year-long opportunity program is open to men and women who desire to deepen their relationship with God through monthly gatherings, selected readings, and a silent retreat experience.

Program participants will meet at the Benedictine Peace Center monthly from September through May.  The two-hour gathering will include prayer, a presentation on the focus topic for the month, and time for sharing reflections on the reading and presentation.   

Each session will focus on a topic of interest to women and men—bringing a theological and spiritual perspective to a faith journey within the Christian tradition.

A three-day silent guided personal retreat experience at the Benedictine Peace Center is included in the program cost.

The program is led by staff at the Benedictine Peace Center and will occasionally include other Benedictine Sisters with expertise in a particular topic.

Jul 28    MEET IN THE STREET - Funky Flea Market-style
Trunk Sale - Yankton's Meridan District. It's daytime fun in downtown Meridian District along 3rd Street. Starts at 9am. This new event features the BUY, SELL, TRADE concept. It's set-up in the street like a Flea Market. Anybody can sign-up, the fee is $25 per vehicle which goes towards Harvest Halloween Festival fundraising efforts. Vendors sell out of their trunks, vans or pick-up trucks. This event compliments the Rock 'n' Rumble event which also shares 3rd Street in the Meridan District on Jult 28th day - Stay Awhile!
