Due to a successful first year (2016) of the Monastery Flower Garden Project,  The Missouri Valley Master Gardeners, Karen Kostel and Corky Brewer, will again plan for the spring flower garden cleaning, soil preparation, and planning of three of the monastery gardens.  Many of the garden volunteers of last summer are anticipating their support again for this spring and summer.

A volunteer spring-planning session is underway to explain the types and placement of flowers to be planted in the chapel circular garden. Soil preparation and anticipated planting time are being discussed.

The gardeners saved flower seeds from last fall and the two master gardeners will be starting their own plants.

A planning session will be held Wednesday, March 22 at 2 pm at Sacred Heart Monastery.  If you enjoy flower gardening, wish to learn more about flower gardening, or simply like being out of doors, do join the master gardeners and the present volunteers for this planning session.
